Summer Employment

Our Education Counselor can help you acquire funding for summer employment, and connect you with job opportunities.

Post-Secondary Support

We can help post secondary students both on and off the reserve secure funding for their education endeavors, as well as provide application assistance when applying to a college or university.

Making Connections

We can help relay information between schools, school boards, and parents. As well, if you require any additional resources to help guide you through education processes, we are happy to point you in the right direction!

Valerie works as the Education Counselor for Pays Plat First Nation. Originally from a small community the Wells Grey Park area of British Columbia, she has spent the last 16 years working for the community, and the last 12 working with students and parents navigating the education system and its challenges.

Some of her duties include supporting students through their elementary and secondary school experiences, administering post secondary funding, and overseeing the summer employment program for the community’s youth. She also works as a liaison between parents and schools as well as between Chief and Council and the school boards. Valerie strongly believes that everyone should have access to the best possible education and should be able to attain it no matter their age.
